Team USA Blasts Canada in Las Vegas Exhibition

Bench Scoring Proves Pivotal in American Victory

Behind strong performances from Anthony Edwards and Anthony Davis, Team USA defeated Canada 86-72 in their first of four exhibition games in Las Vegas on Sunday night. The American bench outscored their Canadian counterparts 42-33, proving to be a decisive factor in the victory.

Edwards and Davis Lead the Charge

Edwards, the Minnesota Timberwolves guard, led all scorers with 22 points, while Davis, the Los Angeles Lakers big man, added 18 points and 10 rebounds. The duo combined for 40 points in the first half, helping Team USA build a comfortable lead.

Bench Provides Depth and Firepower

While Edwards and Davis led the way, the American bench played a crucial role in the victory. Jordan Poole of the Golden State Warriors scored 15 points, and Jalen Brunson of the New York Knicks added 10 points. Their contributions off the bench helped Team USA maintain a consistent scoring threat throughout the game.

Canada Stays Competitive

Despite the American dominance, Canada remained competitive throughout the game. Shai Gilgeous-Alexander of the Oklahoma City Thunder led the way for Canada with 17 points, while Nickeil Alexander-Walker of the Utah Jazz added 15 points. However, Canada's inability to match Team USA's bench production ultimately proved to be their downfall.

The victory marks a positive step for Team USA as they prepare for the upcoming FIBA World Cup and the 2024 Paris Olympics. The Americans will face Spain in their next exhibition game on Tuesday, July 12, in Las Vegas.
