David Lynch, Co-Creator of Twin Peaks, Reveals Emphysema Diagnosis

LOS ANGELES, Aug. 5, 2024 (Reuters) - David Lynch, the co-creator of the groundbreaking television series Twin Peaks, has revealed that he has been diagnosed with emphysema, a chronic lung disease. In an interview published by the British newspaper The Guardian, Lynch said that the condition has limited his ability to direct, but that he has no plans to retire.

"I've got emphysema," Lynch said. "It's a lung disease. It's not fatal, but it's very limiting. I can't do a lot of things I used to do. I can't run around as much. I can't lift heavy things. I can't do a lot of physical stuff."

Despite his diagnosis, Lynch said that he is determined to keep working. "I'm not going to retire," he said. "I'll never retire. I'll keep going until I drop."
