Tornado warning issued for Volusia County expires

The National Weather Service has issued a tornado warning for Volusia County, Florida, that expires at 11:15 a.m. ET.

The warning includes the cities of DeLand, Daytona Beach, and Ormond Beach.

The NWS says that a tornado was spotted near DeLand at 10:45 a.m. ET. The tornado is moving east at 25 mph.

The NWS is advising residents in the affected areas to take shelter immediately.

If you are in the path of the tornado, please take the following precautions:

  • Seek shelter in a sturdy building.
  • Go to the lowest level of the building.
  • Stay away from windows.
  • Cover your head and neck with something soft, like a pillow or blanket.

The NWS will continue to monitor the situation and provide updates as they become available.
